Pantone Party 2024: Peach Fuzz

*Dusts off cobwebs* Hello friends! As many of you may know from past years, Project Run + Play hosts the Pantone Party each year, where past PRP designers come together to celebrate Pantone’s color of the year and share looks that feature it. This year’s color is Peach Fuzz, which “captures our desire to nurture ourselves and others. It’s a velvety gentle peach tone whose all-embracing spirit enriches mind, body, and soul” (from Pantone). Furthermore, it’s described as an appealing peach hue, softly nestled between pink and orange, and feelings of calm, comfort, peace, warmth are used to describe it. I don’t know about you, but my life needs all of these things more than ever over these past several months, so the color’s symbolism is relatable.

Now that you’ve learned a little about the color, I’m here to show you the looks I created for my daughter. Thanks to my generous sponsor, Art Gallery Fabrics, I had most of their fabrics at my disposal. As with any project for my kids, particularly when I require them to model, I sat down with her and browsed the site to find fabrics that spoke to her. For look 1, she chose the Paisley Bloom and Peachy Custard jersey knits. We always love these from AGF, because they’re always soft, with the cutest prints, and they hold well through washing and wear. We went a little bright as a play on her youth and energy, but felt like it still channeled the peaceful, soft vibes that Peach Fuzz represents. Her top is the Lagoon Top with the sleeve cuff left off (at her request during try on), and though can’t see the hem, since it’s tucked in, I kept the band off and hemmed the top. For the skirt, we used the Becky Skirt. I love the fit of both, and she’s been on a skirt kick for a while now and asked for some more of these in her closet.

For look 2, we decided on woven pieces and she chose Everblooming Fig cotton from the Nectarine Fusion line.. These colors were extremely light and airy (and also hard to photograph accurately) but soooo gorgeous and dreamy, with almost a vintage vibe. Her top is the Celeste, but I left the sleeve ruffle off since she didn’t want the ruffle on the collar. It was intended to be paired with jeans, but the more I looked at it, I felt it needed something different. A trip to JoAnn the morning of photos, a couple yards of some beige cotton (yes, the label said beige, but it read very pale peach and matched the sample and thread I had in hand), and a quick 1 hr of winging it to make a skirt, I accidentally made the cutest little riffle skirt ever lol! She was veryyyyy excited for this outfit!

We love how versatile Peach Fuzz is, and how you can create so many looks and add so many pieces to your wardrobe that represent who you are. The color is gorgeous and one I’m looking forward to adding more of to my own closet. A big thank you to Project Run + Play for inviting me along, and another thank you to Art Gallery Fabrics for the fabric for this project. To read more about the Pantone Party, head here! Until next time, friends….

P.S. A super big thank you to my sweet girl for hanging in there one more year. She’s in high school now and Project Run + Play is getting a little more tricky to incorporate her into. I appreciate her for her vision, the collaboration and just….how gorgeous are these photos?
