Witty one-liner goes here

Sunday, June 16, 2019: Hello! Before I jump into my challenge, I want to wish a Happy Father's Day to the folx out there doing the dad thing! I know that the same as motherhood, fatherhood looks different for everyone. Dads are so loved, valued, and needed in our society, and I commend those who stick around to play that important role in their children's lives.

Now, onto the challenge! This week, I'm going to make a bag. I got this adorable floral canvas on clearance for $3/yd at Hobby Lobby a while back that I forgot about. Today while organizing a little, I came across it and figured I should go ahead and make myself a new bag. I've been wanting to make one for a while because the Barnes and Noble one I use is pretty "meh" after all the years I've carried it around. I switch between a small purse and a medium sized tote bag, depending on my mood and what I'm doing.

I'll be honest and say I chose this also because it'll be like the quickest sew ever. BUUUUT, my hope is to try and sew something else to go with it so that I can mark off "Accesory" from Week 21 (though, don't hold me to that because...well, life). All about maximizing wherever I can these days. 😅

Sunday, June 23, 2019: I'm done! My bag is done and I'm so excited. I used the Little Lizard King tote pattern (free from the site) in size medium. It's pretty close to the size of the tote I'd been using, maybe 2 inches taller. It was a quick sew (I actually just sat down and made it in less than an hour yesterday afternoon because I was bored and it was too hot to go anywhere haha). I used canvas for the outer, and poly cotton for the liner. I can definitely see this being a go-to tote bag becasue it sews up nicely, with no raw seams, no fancy finishes or tools needed. I made my own straps since I didn't have webbing on hand. I also clipped all my seam allowance with pinking shears and added a snap to the pocket for personal preference. I think next time I make one with a pocket, I'm going to divide it vertically into two pockets since it's a pretty nice size. In my old tote, it had a zipper pocket that I tossed my phone in.

My kids are now requesting their own, so I'm sure they'll be getting them for Halloween, though one of the smaller sizes, for sure! My daughter even wants to help make them (she sewed my straps). This was a quick & fun sew, and one that will get much use. LOVE!
