Witty one-liner goes here

Sunday, 1/13/2019: Hey y'all! Welcome to Week 2 of my sewing challenge! For this week's challenge, I chose "new (to me) pattern." On my sewing journey, I've seemed to only sew a small handful of designers. I own well over 100 PDF sewing patterns, and most are from 4 designers. I don't percive this to be a "problem" because I quite like most of the patterns I own, but I know that there is a WHOLE WORLD out there if I open my eyes to it. So I'm looking to try a new pattern, preferably from someone other than Ellie & Mac or Patterns for Pirates haha. My daughter has picture day later this week, so I'd like it to be a dress or cute top in girl's sizes. I'm going to dig around in my sewing and pattern groups until something catches my eye. If you have a suggestion, please post on my Instagram or Facebook (until I get the comment funcionality up and running here). I hope to have a pattern chosen tonight so that I can get the project into my planner!! Stay tuned...

Monday, 1/14/2019: A little before bed, I was just browsing around my sewing groups looking for inspiration. I came across this super adorable ruffle top in a pattern promo group. It was that moment, I fell in love with the Elia from Little Lizard King. I have never bought a pattern from that company, so I joined their Facebook group to look at pictures briefly before commiting. I was sold! While browsing the site looking for Elia, I also found these leggings that have adorable accent options, so I grabbed the New Haven pattern, too haha. Didn't hurt that both patterns were on sale. I don't think I'll be making the leggings also for picture day (Wednesday, BTW), but they are certainly in my future!! Now, onto the fun part. I'll be digging through my stash to find the perfect fabric tomorrow...

Tuesday, 1/15/2019: I had a little mini dilemma tonight! Went to print Elia after my girl went to bed and gasp, we were out of yellow ink! I dug through my patterns to see what I hadn't sewn yet, and I found the Sweetie Pie from Ellie and Mac already cut out, so I whipped one of those up for picture day, instead! I AM NOT DONE THOUGH! I will be getting ink today to print Elia, I just now have until Sunday, which actually works better anyway! Don't wanna set up the expectation that I will be finishing all my challeneges mid-week haha!

Friday, 1/18/2019: When I came to the realiztion that I wouldn't have the garment sewn up for photos, I cut myself some slack and reminded myself that I didn't have to rush through my challenge. I worked on test garments Wednesday and took yesterday as a no-sew day. Today, I printed & cut the pattern, and settled on my fabric. I'm a bit obsessed with liverpool at the moment, so that's what I decided to use. I'll be fitting this top into my sewing schedule this weekend.

Saturday, 1/19/2019: I was able to complete this shirt today, just in time to move on to next week's challenge in the morning. I was reminded of how much I despise ruffles while working on this. UGHHHH, I hate gathering. No matter how meticulous I try to be, I can almost never get them nice and neat. Too bad I didn't choose this pattern for my "gathering" challenge. Now it means I'll have to do it all again...

I chose to leave the hems raw because I like how liverpool and DBP look on the edges, and it was a shortcut. Anywho, although it's far from perfect, I'm pretty happy with how the top came out. My first go with a new pattern and designer was a good experience. The fit on my daughter matches the size chart (based on her measuements) and the garment went together without any issues. I will make it again, for sure, although I will probably try the woven version, instead of knit since my gathers tend to be nicer and seem more sturdy on woven fabric.

That's it for this week!! Be back tomorrow with Week 3. I'm thinking "Reader's Choice" of some sorts. Hmm....
